We are recruiting

Executive Director

A legacy leadership role helping to grow a values-led not-for-profit across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia

Ren Xue Australasia (RXAA) is a charitable trust supporting the development and teaching of Ren Xue in our communities. Over the past five years we’ve grown significantly, and we’re now entering an exciting next phase—strengthening how we operate, expanding our impact, and progressing the early stages of a Global Centre at Onekaka, Mohua/Golden Bay.

The opportunity

We’re looking for an Executive Director who combines practical leadership with a strong alignment to Ren Xue principles—kindness, personal growth, and the mission of Zi Du, Du Ren (uplift yourself & help others). Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you’ll guide both strategy and day-to-day operations, support our people, and help shape the organisational structure that will carry RXAA forward. This is an executive level opportunity to work fully remotely.

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead and support a strengths-based team culture—clear priorities, good systems, and a focus on wellbeing.

  • Partner with the Board to translate strategy into action and keep governance and operations working smoothly together.

  • Ensure organisational compliance across relevant charitable, education, employment, health and safety, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Provide financial stewardship—budgeting, reporting, sustainability, and aligned commercial outcomes.

  • Grow fundraising and partnerships, building trusted donor relationships and long-term revenue opportunities.

  • Support key relationships with the Ren Xue community, Mohua/Golden Bay community, local iwi, and Ren Xue organisations globally.

  • Help advance the Onekaka Centre project to become a global centre for Ren Xue.

What we’re looking for

  • Deep alignment with Ren Xue principles and a genuine desire to uplift yourself and others.

  • Proven people leadership with integrity, transparency, and a collaborative, steady style.

  • Confidence building systems and leading through change, growth, and transition.

  • Experience with not-for-profit compliance in Aotearoa New Zealand (governance, fiscal management, and regulatory obligations).

  • Financial and business acumen—able to manage budgets and safeguard long-term viability.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the ability to prioritise well.

  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to partnership, governance, and community engagement.

  • Experience in the independent education sector is an advantage.

  • Relevant qualifications preferred.

  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.

  • Hours: 24 hours per week

  • Location: Fully remote (some travel required)

  • Reporting to: RXAA Board of Trustees (via the Chairperson)

  • Employment type: Employee (part-time)

  • Pay rate: $55–$58 per hour
